Starter solution for TD D90?

Alright, my first post for my new rig! I have a '94 D90 that came over from South Africa(RHD) and has an IVECO 2.5L TD w/ a LR 5 speed gearbox. I've got an intermittent "click only" starter problem from my Marelli starter. I've tried tearing it down and cleaning it up w/ no luck. Brushes look like they need replacing and part of the commutator is eaten away. The local shop wants $270.00 to rebuild it. I'm curious if anyone knows how to go about finding a reasonably priced rebuilt Marelli unit (part # MT71T) or if there is an equivalent Lucas starter out there. Mine has three mounting holes, and I don't know if it is from the original SA diesel engine or went in with the IVECO.
I've also been reading about the Mean Green starters. Anyone using one in a diesel application?
