Stamping Defender Badge

So I purchased a blank rear land rover defender badge that has the aluminum blank to stamp the number in. The problem is, I am not sure what size the stamp number should be. Does anyone have an idea (or could check) the size of the numbers before I go off and buy the wrong size stamping kit?

Maybe a dumb question but what about the original one?

Haha, not a dumb question, but I don't have the original. I have a European spec defender. I decided to add the badge and put the model year of the 90 on it (i.e., 1987)

Can't help with the stamp size but another thought- when I had to replace the one stolen from my truck, I had the blank engraved. Not 100% correct, but close-enough for me.

Anyway, I didn't have the stamps and was concerned that I might break the plaque if I did try to stamp it.

Best of luck.

Scott,
Did you do that yourself? If so, do you happen to recall the size of the stamp? Looks great!

Why put a badge designed for a NAS truck on a non-NAS? I don't get it.

Coincidentally my '95 D90 is plaque 1988 - I hope this doesn't become the trend! I can take a pic of mine today (if I remember) as I just realized I don't think I ever have. You'll then have just one digit (7) you'll have to figure out.

No, this is the original one on my truck. I posted it so you could see the size and spacing of the stamping.

You could always have it engraved instead of stamping.

Engraving looks OK I guess, but stamping is way more original-looking. What ever you do, make sure your numbers are crooked and unevenly-spaced, as that's how they came from the factory.

i dont see anything wrong with it. he's not trying to pass it off as an NAS truck, he's engraving/stamping the year on it.

why are guys putting Puma bonnets on non-Puma trucks? same deal i suppose...

it can be purchased at http://www.falon-nameplates.co.uk/

It's starting to look like this will be more involved than I had hoped. Luckily, I ordered the generic badge as well. Looks like I might be installing the generic badge and selling the badge below

When you say generic do you mean just the oval style?

Chris,
By "generic" I am refering to the badge that says "four wheel drive station wagon" instead of saying "defender 90 No. _________"
