speedometer cable for 1984 110

My right hand drive 110 has a 2 piece speedometer cable, and the bottom piece has broken. Does anyone know if this is a different design or length than a LHD NAS 110? Just don't want to order the wrong thing as I am in a bit of a hurry to get it fixed before my trip next week.

If anyone knows where I can get one (new or used) let me know. I already checked RDS and he's out of stock.

thanks,
charles

Its different.
The EFI cars used a smaller diameter speedo cable (internally) than the diesel and carb'd V8 110s. It wouldn't fit into your speedo drive gear in the transfer case.

Thanks Mike

Damn, I never thought I'd miss my speedo that much, but I really do like knowing how fast I'm going...

I haven't called yet, but still not sure what I need. For example, are the 4 cylinder ones different than a V8? Is RHD a different length than LHD?

Might just get a cheap GPS.

Did it break internally? or the whole cable?

Usually Napa and Autozone have new speedometer cores available, cut to fit and crimp on the new drive key. $10 or so for the kit IIRC.

Just internally. I'll look into it, but it's a 2 piece design with a plastic female end on the top of the lower lower part (probably where it broke) that the bottom top part goes into. I'd probably have to change it to have the core go all the way through both pieces. Might be able to just fix where the break is if it's where the plastic meets the metal.

Worth a shot if the core is the same size as mine, thanks!

FLAPS?

I tracked it down to these part #s thanks to Rovers North, but they need to be special ordered (at least the bottom half which is what I need).

PRC5567 top speedo cable RN $25
PRC5664 bottom speedo cable RN $27

I think I'll see where the break is before ordering, but anything I order won't be here in time for uwharrie so I need to fix or use gps

oh well, so much for trying to fix the bottom piece. My daughter just crushed the plastic head of the upper piece in the door, so it won't connect to the speedo. I'll be ordering both pieces now

Aah. Sadly around here they seem to be only good if you want bling, or to wash your car, or can lookup a standard part for a car in their computer, so I generally use the latter. For example my FLAPS only has one brand of 90W! Clearly not a big seller.

So you coming down with us to Uwharrie Dave?

Charles- try Bill @ Tntlr. When I needed a brake light switch for the 83 he was the only contender in the US that had one.

I had forgotten to try him, but he doesn't have it either. No worries, I'll order from RN - no rush at this point.
