speedo cable

Anyone know if there is a trick to getting the speedo cable off the guage behind the dash?

Something froze up going through some water last week. After I came out there was a squealing noise, then a snap and all was well. Or so I thought. Sounded like crap in the brakes. Later I noticed my speedo was not working and later still the CEL came on. Digging in, the cable broke at the tcase, but it spun fine. The transducer (is that what its called?) is fine. The other cable, going into the dash appears frozen, and I'm trying to figure out how to get the other end out?
tnx

You have to squeeze the white end of the cable where it connects to the speedo to release the clip.

No worries. By the way, I have the cable that goes from the gear to the transducer listed in my ebay store..I bought it for a customers car and it was not needed.

Rob,
I just bought a new VDO speedo for my 300Tdi 110. Is your cable the one that I need as a direct replacement?

Thomas,
I don't know, the cable that I have is a short one (2 ft or so) and goes from the speedo drive gear on the t-box to the speed transducer mounted on the frame.
