I work with wood, so I would just make some and wrap them or glass and bondo them to the desired finish.
Would be super easy. I like those panels in the picture.

Hi,

Yeah they are a Land Rover item. I have them on my Defender 50th LE. Not sure if they are on newer standard land rovers.

Cheap (IMO), easy and made form plastic so it won't decay of it gets wet.
Same thing used in 95-97 NAS D90 wagons and will take up to a 6.5" speaker.

I agree, a lot of plastic tid-bits are crap, but these are actually a rubberized stuff that would outlast just about anything. They are not hard plastic that would crack or break or fail with age.

I found ones that worked perfectly at the local audio shop. They just gave me the grills. That was short lived though. I upgraded to a 6" marine speaker. Little bigger hole, but I am much happier with the sound and they can get wet. Bazooka brand and fairly inexpensive. Can actually be turned up louder than you want.

This rubber speaker spacer for the doors is now $42 a piece at RN and it appears no one else sells it anymore.

Does anyone have a used pair for sale?

Has anybody found a descent substitute?

So I decided to mount the speakers to the dash instead. I noticed that the speaker spacers I bought (AMR 3840) are much too small to fit the speakers (RTC7774). Do I need the spacers? What purpose do they serve? It appears I could mount the speakers flush to the underside of the dash without spacers. Is there a problem with not using spacers?

Metra makes the adapter plates. Think I paid 15 bucks at Best Buy for them and are solid to my door panels.

Thanks!

Um... but why do I need them? When removing the grill the speaker edges have holes. I could mount the speaker directly to the underside of the dash without using adapters/spacers since the screws would be covered by the grill. Is there any problem doing it this way?

Thanks for the tip though. If it turns out I must have spacers I will look for the Metra in the size that I need.

There is almost no space between the dash and the wiper motor on the LH side.
That is where you'll need to space the speaker out, or use a speaker so small it won't sound like much.

When I built my door panels, I had roughly 1.5 inches between the door panel and the inside of the door. The speakers I put in there were almost 3 inches so the spacer was a must.

Ah. That's what it is. Thanks Mike! Do you happen to know what spacer is made to fit the RTC7774 speaker? Britpart? LR?
