Greetings all.
I am having problems getting my '97 NAS Defender ready for its smog test. I have been dealing with the trouble codes one by one. Evap system, vehicle speed sensor, etc. Now all the codes are cleared and aren't coming back. But aside from the codes there are two monitors showing — O2 sensor and catalyst — that won't go away. They don't make the check engine light turn on, but they won't clear either. I've heard that for some cars there is a series of drive cycles that will cause the computer to reset and clear old monitors. So many miles at such-and-such a speed, and then so many miles at a different speed. I've heard other cases where it was a certain number of thermal cycles over a certain number of days.
So, my question: Is there some pattern of driving that will help clear the monitors in my Defender?
Thanks in advance.
