Slotted and drilled Brake Rotors

I searched and found very little on these.

Who is running them and are they a significant upgrade from the stock? I saw them for $49 a rotor on BritishPacific. There is always a pair on ebay. What source and what make is best?

I use to have them and got to say there is no point in wasting your money on them. Land Rovers are not high performance vehicles and do not generate near the amount of heat needed in the brakes to benefit from slotted rotors. Adding the corss-drilled element simply weakens the rotor. Drilling through the metal creates the potential for thermal cracks to develop around the edges of the drilled holes. The "drilled rotor" that is a performance benefit are the ones installed on 911s. Porsche has a patent where they make the holes while they cast the metal as opposed to making the rotor and then drilling them. Secondly drilled rotors reduce the amount of contact area between the pad and the rotor surface which could decrease brake performance. FOr off-road purposes, the second you drive through mud it goes inot the slots and cross drills and stays in there. ONce you hit the brakes and heat the rotor up... boom your have permanent clay in your rotor. Basically they are pointless on a truck. THey look good but land rover wheels don't really let you see the rotor too well anyway.
