Side mirror glass

Can i replace just the glass on the side mirror? I suffered a spontaneous dissasembly today, flora related. Better than the 2 rolled rigs, Munched side door and lost fender that other rigs got. The screws tore out so I will just retap the holes.

You can easily replace just the glass in the mirror. Just peel the rubber trim back and the glass (or what's left of it) will come right out. If the rubber is very hard I found soaking it in hot water will soften it right up.

If you are replacing the glass you might want to check out the convex mirrors that Expedition Exchange sells. I have them on my truck and I think they are great. You might want to check NY laws. I'm not sure if they are legal for the driver's side there.

My beadlocks aren't legal either . It was the passenger side, I'll check those out.

If anyone hasn't done it yet, I highly recommend going to www.expeditionexchange.com and picking up a convex mirror for the passenger side.

It actually makes the passenger side mirror worth more than a branch grabber!

I noticed RN is now carrying the "unbreakable" wolf mirrors.

Oh that would have broken too I'm afraid. I tore the threads right out of the arm.

Ran a slightly larger tap in the holes, epoxyed the cracked mirror housing, and slapped that new glass in. Sliders saved the new door but I lost some paint from my hinges.

The unbreakable ones are made of a Lexan type material you can run them over and they survive. Very nice piece of kit for the woods. I would go with the EE ones if you spent more time on the road with a roof on.

Kevin, you may want to heat up the rubber trim on the mirror with a hairdryer first, then peal it back. it makes it a lot easier. then again i did mine in the winter so it was like 20 degrees out. summertime might be easy since its hot out already

EE convex mirrors are possible the best thing i could have added to my truck.
