side mirror assembly adjustment

Feeling stupid for not being able to figure this out, but how do I tighten up my loose side mirror assembly? Looks like there are two allen bolts or screws that attach the assembly to the door hinge, but can't figure out how to get to them. I must have to remove the mirror and arm to tighten them, but how do I do that?

Looked in the manuals but can't find anything.. Thanks in advance.

If it's anything like a '94 NAS, then there are 2 bolts the attach the mirror to the door hinge. Then the door hinge bolts to the body/door. You have to take off the two hinge bolts that attach the hinge to the door to be able to get to the two bolts that attach the mirror arm to the hinge.

Also, at the bottom of the mirror is a ball and socket-type joint. There's an allen head screw in there that you can loosen to take it apart. I would just lube the joint with some lithium grease and re-assemble. That'll help prevent corrosion and make it adjust easier.

Again, all of this is assuming that it is the same on a '94 NAS as it is on yours. With yours being older, it might be different - I'm sure someone else could tell us.

To get to the screws under the hinge you have to remove the hinge from the door
Best to remove the nuts on the inside of the door, wind the window down, shut the door, pull the bolts, open out the hinge, tighten the screws and put it back together.
The door hangs on the lower hinge and door latch.

The ball joint is probably rusted out. Take it apart and see if you can get it tight again.

I think the attachment to the hinge is what's causing the difficulty not the ball joint on the end of the arm.

Yes, that's correct Mike. I thought about detaching the hinge from the door, but then thought that surely there must be a way to remove the mirror assembly without having to do that. Guess not.

Thanks for your help.
