Should I be able to...

I removed the front shaft to replace the U-Joints. Now with the front shaft off shouldn't I still be able to drive if the transfer case is in H or L? I put the truck in gear and it doesn't seem to engage.

So I am an utter idiot, but to lock it I have to shift the transfer case knob to the left correct? Man that one hurt to ask. I haven't locked that thing in 8 years or so please forgive the stupidity.

Thanks man. I finally got some time to work on the truck again and it sounds really good, just need to get the shaft back on. I took them to a shop and got them done, but what PITA it was to get the front shaft off. Is that your new ride?

It is, though the pic is old, it's now taller, back on steelies and MTs and sill-less as I finish building the sliders. feel free to come by and help tear the cooling system apart! Where'd you take the shaft?

There is a machine shop at Cedar Ln and 29 out in fairfax that is part of Fairfax Auto Parts. I took some of the Vette parts to them and they did a good job. Just U-joints and rotor turning and such. I definitely need to swing by and get a good look at the monster. You around this weekend?
