Shift Boot with Better Sound Proofing?

I will be doing the dynomat in about a week and was curious about the shift boot. The stock boot is so thin so I imagine a good amount of sound comes through the hole and the shift boot. Are there any better shift boots or has anyone tried to sound proof that area with any luck?

make sure you have the LR foam insert that goes in that tunnel space. Mine didn't have one for years and I didn't know about it, but finally figured it out and put one in. I also added on top of that a layer of Second Skin Luxury Liner mat using the foam insert for a cutting template.

Haha. No liner in there. I pulled it back and found a half used piece of tissue paper. Gotta love the British Army! I thought it was strange there was nothing in there. I actually think most of the noise in my cabin on the freeway is coming from that hole.

I'll start looking for that part. If anyone has a part number that would be cool.

MTC6872 for the pad. The boot is BTR1698.

You should download the parts catalog....

It took me 5 years to figure that one out, and it was the picture in the parts manual that revealed it to me!

I thought it was strange that I could look down and see the ground through my loose boot when I was driving. Most of the noise in my cab is transmission noise, not engine noise. Glad I asked.

I use that area to keep my Mc Donald's warm while I drive down the road. I can eat slowly, enjoying my food and not have to worry about it getting cold. I wish I could get a whole pizza in there.

Confirm you have this part? ETX500050 for $65. The L8 site doesn't show it. I sent you a PM.
