SG Stage 2 w/ 3rd link

Besides cost which I already know is high - I am curious what the forum thinks about this kit. I posted a question about SG and it seemed like most people thought their brushguard and sliders were pretty crappy, but what about the suspension kits. I would like the lift and the added off road capabilites the Stage 2 brings, but don't want to change out driveshafts, etc to accomadate it. Will I have to?

Also, becuase the D-90 is my daily driver want to keep the on road characteristics as close as possible to stock.

Thanks.

thats what i have on my truck and i now love it, however i did encounter some serious problems while installing it. The big problem was that the front 12" shock was too long. I had to switch down to a 10" in order to prevent buying the new driveshaft and all that other junk.

The 3 link its self it amazing.
my advice is to buy only that from safari gard. You can get a bad ass OME kit or something along those lines for a ton less than the 2K they want for the stage 2.

If you'd like, i'd gladly let you take my truck out, to test it for yourself.

James,

Are you still in orange today. My wife has a bunch of crap planned this weekend, but I could probably take a couple of minutes to swing by if you around. I'm in Irvine so we are pretty close.

Joe

I can tell you that their new springs are far more better then the old ones and you should be ok driving it everyday. Since you are planning on adding 3-link I would try to find another way to mount the front shocks. Since the front shocks has studs, the amount of articulation that the 3-link give will give to much stress on the stud, so you need to find a shocks with lower eye mount to lower the binding. I know of 3 front Fox shox that broke the stud and myself broke two rancho shock studs, and that's why I went with external shocks mounts so I can run eye/eye shocks.

Honestly, if you are going to spend $1500 on the stage II, I would pay a little more money and get coil overs, trust me they are not that expensive compare to SG suspension.

I think the latest Stage II kit has looped ends on both ends now. I had moderate vibration from the rear driveshaft after installing my Stage II, instead of replacing the driveshaft, I installed the Rovertym trailing arms that use bushings to adjust for pinion angle. It eliminated all vibration for less money than driveshaft, is very heavy duty, and has better underside clearance than stock parts and eliminates the bushing bind that you get from the lift.
