Seat Belt question

An someone point me to the explanation for how to to release a retracted seat belt? I've been searching and can't find it.

Or a quick explanation. Either way. Got one I can't install (shoulder belt) because it's retracted too far.

Thanks.

Not sure if it's the right way... But I removed the outer cover to actuate (release) the catch. Worked for me

yes but you must be VERY careful if you try this as it is all plastic. the principle of the retractor that is...what allows it to function is based on an internal pre tension mechanism and the angle that it is operating on.

So the angle of the dangle...

in this video when he takes the outer cover off the little silver ball is what lets the mechanism operate. If it's not allowed to move as intended it will seem as if the mechanism has failed.

I tried this and f'ed it up, I had the same problem and was told to bolt it in place or put it in a vice making sure it was straight up and that did the trick. Good luck,

Just unbolt the top hanger (by the shoulder) so it can retract a little further, and then it releases. It sounds like you might have a disco Y piece, and if so, the only permanent solution is a longer Y, or make a short strap to lower the top hanger. There is a thread somewhere here showing how I did mine.
