Sealed battery?

While fiddling with the electrical the other day, I was under the seat looing at my battery. Has anyone used an RV battery (I think they're called sealed cell)? I'd like to seal off that box beneath my seat and insulate it. I know it contributes a lot of noise and cold air to the car. I figured I could get around the need to ventilate by using an RV battery, then sealing the box off from the elements.

Thoughts?

Why not get one of those "boxes" like they use for batteries in the marine venue?

So, you think getting a sealed battery, like the optima (or similar) would be a good/safe way to allow me to seal off the battery box below the driver's seat?

I can just feel the air rush in, and hear a good amount of road noise that I'd like to eliminate.

It depends on what you mean by sealing off. I closed up all the holes in my box with liquid aluminum and then coated the inside of the box with liquid rubber. Then I put silicon where the wires come in and carpet on the bottom of a custom made lid. I can still get access to the dual optimas easily but the noise is cut. If you mean seal as in you can never get back in there, it is not a good idea as every battery needs occasional maintenance.
