SCV6 Supercharge and Water Pump Done 24k
So our 24k mi LR4 is in for inspection after finding low on coolant. There were no drips, signs or smells of coolant at any time. Low coolant warning light came on and we topped it off with 2qts and called the dealer.
Dealership says the water pump is leaking and the SC has a noise at idle so they?re going to replace both.
My concern is figuring out how this started and could there be internal damage to the engine if the coolant exited via bad WP shaft seal.
I?m kicking myself for not taking an oil sample before I dropped off the truck. I just didn?t think long and hard enough.
Any thoughts on the internal damage possibilities?
Apparently the pumps have had their share for failures too. I just have to wonder if it is the SC that is the causing the WP to fail or visa versa?
Thoughts on this welcome as well.
