RRC won't start without ether sprayed n2 plenum?

Semi-local '90 RRC's seller seems to be saying it won't start without disconnecting the hose between the MAF & plenum and spraying ether into the plenum, but it only runs for a few minutes. Anybody have a clue as to what no-start condition could get a temporary fix with this method? - the tow in from the sticks to my place where I can tinker with it would cost me more than he's asking for it...

Dead fuel pump, fuel pump relay, blown fuse, clogged line, or disconnected wires.

Or the main relay that sends the signal.power to the fuel pump relay. The two are side by side under the passenger front seat. Rovers eat fuel pumps. If you turn the key on (run position)its should buzz for 10 secs and stop. If it doesn't, replace with know good ones, if it still wont run, then its the pump.

On the older RRCs, the top of the fuel pump assembly was metal and the ground wire would corrode and fall off!

I've had 2 trucks that did this. Regrounded, fuel pump came to life, truck started.
Just one more thing to look for.

I dont remember if a 1990 RRC has the fuel pump access door in the floor or not as a rule....some did, some didn't.

Ugh, seller edited his ad to SOLD overnight - I guess a $500 semi-running RRC within an hour of an I5 edgeburb can still get snapped up same day.

Thanks very much for the prompt replies, tho - I have zero experience going diy on fueling issues, so will definitely bookmark to my "no start" RRC folder! - still a '91 RRC daily driver guy for the time being...

One lingering question: is spraying ether into the plenum on these a legit way to help diagnose a no start situation? Is there a downside?

Timing may be slightly off as well. Buy first, ask questions later.
