Rover's North AC versus OEM 1997

I did a search and couldn't find an answer. Apologies if this has been covered. I'd like to address air conditioning on my 1995 NAS. Is the Rover's North kit more effective than the OEM unit or is it pretty much the same thing just available new today? I prefer the controls in the center as opposed to the left and I don't like the speaker cut out on the Rover's North unit. I realize it might take a while to put together an OEM setup but if the Rover's North is just a new alternative and not fundamentally better I'd try to find a 1997 setup even if it took a little while. I'd prefer stock to Vintage Air unless Vintage Air just blows everything else away(pun intended).

I'm not sure what Rover's North is selling, but people say the Elite system is better than the normal factory one.

I have installed several Rovers North kits and like them. I don't care for the switch location on the left either but it is no big deal.
There is also something to be said for a brand new system over a 17 year old one from a 1997. With that said a 1997 Nas system is far better than the 1995 system.

The 1st R134a systems were terrible. The primary reason was the condenser (radiator looking thing) tubes were the same as used on the older R4 systems. The R134a improved vastly when they started making the condenser tubes differently by creating more surface area in them (smaller tubes & many more) thus emitting much more heat & improving the cooling efficiency inside the cab.

I have a 97 and had the new system installed before taking delivery recently. Had a 97 with factory air previous. The new system is more efficient........better compressor, evaporator. I can't tell when the compressor switched on and off.
The switches on the left side are very convenient.......easy to grab when entering or exiting the vehicle. I live in 100 degree heat most of the time and normally don't require more than the #2 fan speed. You want to make sure no heat is getting in from the vents (heater). I finally sealed off the vent completely. I also insulated the footwells before the install.
