Rookie oil change question

I have a 2.5l NA MOD truck. I put on a new filter and added 5.75 quarts of fresh oil. The dipstick is at the low mark. I thought they take 5.5 quarts. Am I missing something?
Thanks

You've got an oil cooler if it's an FFR like mine. Maybe the cooler drains when you take the filter off?

Is the 5.5 figure referring to Imperial quarts?

The workshop manual says 6.85 liters with a filter change. Being in the USA, are you not using bottles in US quarts? This would be 7.2 US quarts.

yes, quart bottles. I put 6 quarts in now and am just above the low mark on the dipstick.
Off I go to buy another quart or two, thanks!
