Roll cage bolt cross reference number

I am documenting this info in case anyone needs to these and can't find them. These are replacement bolts which appear to be the same or very similar as the OEM. Thanks to founD90, madcowdungbeetle and leastonce for sharing this info.

If I recall correctly, the NAS110 cage uses a longer bolt in conjunction with this one in some of the thru-body locations, and I don't have a PN# handy for that one.

Grab them now for .35 cents each. I wanted to be a hoarder, but thought better if it.

Fwiw I've purchased from Stig before, did the full stainless kit on the 110 - very happy with it,

Only issue I could see is the shear strength argument of going to stainless. But let's see what others say, but if it'll fly I'm game for placing an order.

------ Follow up post added August 10th, 2012 11:32 PM ------

And I just realized they are like $2 each....Crikey!

You always need to make sure, stainless or not, that you get the correct hardness. Everything I have seen from Safety Devises is 8.8.

Have you seen the RN price on the stock cage bolts, $5 each. Such BS.

Back on point, the SS bolts on my link are Grade A2-70 (304)stainless = 700 N/mm2, thats only about 85% of the mild steel graded 8.8 = 828N/mm2. I believe the safety devices stock cage bolts are 8.8 or better. So, these will not work.

Here is an old post where Barry had an email exchange with safety devices.

We need to find these for like less than a buck a pop.

Keep an eye on eBay where the Ford equivalent shows up for ~$7 per bag of 20. Assuming these are the very same that RN sells. I gave Charles a bag if you want to check them out at HH (need to miss, FFL draft that night).

I've gotta think that McMaster must have something like this.

I'm staying clear of McMaster Carr's high strength Torx bolts. Purchased a set to mount my 1/2 rack to the load bars and they rusted in one weekend where my NAS bolts still look great after 18 years. Haven't tried the Ford bolts yet.

Sadly I found the same thing with the bolts I got for my tire carrier. They started rusting as I walk away from the truck after installing.

I have an email into the Stig Fasteners guys on the link I posted above. They carry a few A4 strength bolts. One they advertise for the defender rear crossmember. I have asked if they carry the size needed for the cage in an A4. A4 > 8.8

Hate to burst the bubble of those of you who think these things frequently show up for $7.00/20 bolts. The bolts at that price on eBay were a one-time-deal. The guy has a huge stock of Ford parts and had no idea the value of those bolts to the D-90 community. His error in pricing should not dictate 'fair market price' for cage bolts. Go ask RDS, Safari Rover or RN to sell you those bolts for less than $5 each and listen to them laugh at you.

I agree there should be a McMaster equivalent, and these things should be available from alternate sources, but none has ever shown up. If you know someone who owns a Ford dealership, it might be worth exploring, but in the open market, I'm afraid $5 is the going rate.
