rock slides

I'm making my own. Would love to have some pics of yours so I don't have to entirely reinvent the wheel.

I,m trying to make them a bit wider for something to catch a foot on when getting in the thing. I need to make them a bit short for tire clearance. If they turn out real nice, I could probably make another one or two if someone needs them. Thanks in advance

Search this site for my name and rock sliders. There was a thread a while back exactly about this. It has pics of mine and a few others. Mine are shorter for tire clearance and stick out from the body for a step that doesn't crush like the tube ones. Good luck.

Made it further than half of the other guys, but the Hammers won.

Not a Defender, but a friend of mine custom made them for his Disco. Rather than making them real wide you could weld on a "Tree Slider" like he did on his Passenger Side one. His is probably a little small to use as a step (particularly if your feet are muddy, but you could make it a little bigger). Pic is below so you know what I'm talking about.

Not my truck, but I dig the idea, although it probably wouldn't last on the trails.

I am looking to purchase some rock sliders. I don't want them sticking out on the body and I want to make sure that I get some tire clearance. any ideas where i can purchase?

See picture 1 The tube slide into the tube on the frame and then gets bolted in.

Brian,
The welded nut on the tube is slid into the tube that is connected to the frame (see picture above - upper left).
On the inside of of the frame I used a 1/2" s.s plate (big washer) and then bolted into welded nut - This basically connects the slider to the frame - If I was to pull on the slider it will not pull off the frame.

Good Luck with your project.
Paul

I like that idea.
On mine, I drilled both tubes to make sure the sliders would not go in or out. Looks like this would not happen with your setup anyway.
They look great!
