I just bought an ECOTech for my Colt 6933. How do I get the front site off of it so I can actually use the ECOTech. The LMG grenade launchers are still on backorder. grrrrr.

There are two taper pins that hold the front sight assy/gas block on the barrel. Go to sears and buy a large punch that is just slightly undersized of the two pins. Next with a dremel tool, slightly dish out the tip of the punch. I know it sounds counter intuitive but the dishing will help keep the punch on the taper pin.

There is a cool guy plastic block made by Brownells that makes this pretty easy.

http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=2...HT_BENCH_BLOCK

In lieu of that find a large block of wood and drill a large hole in it for the pin to fall into. Place the gas block on the wood with the left side facing up. Your going to tap the pins out left to right with at least a 24 ounce hammer. Two people make this operation MUCH easier.

What flat top gas block do you want to use?

May I recommend the Vltor VIS, it is a clamp on gas block and front sight assy. To those that popo the clamp on mounting read Vltors test where they snapped a barrel pin without twisting the gas block.

Also did you mean LMT Grenade launcher? Are you after the M203 that Clyde sells? If so that is the way to go to get into 40mm. On sugestion is to buy a stripped m203 receiver as Title 1 firearm and then register it later, or put a 37mm barrel from Randy Shivack and keep it a non DD.

Now to the OP and mounting some sort of lockable manner to leave an AR in you vehicle? I am still looking for something myself.
