Rewireing Front Blinckers. Why do the...

So I wanted to do away with blickers in the bumper and use the lower yellow round light next to the headlights. After rewiring it, I tested it out and they blink but they blink much quicker than normal. Anyone know why?
Could it be that the bulb is of a lower wattage (I believe 5 watts)?

Not enough resistance for the flasher unit.
Change the bulbs to 1156s and you are golden
