Reverse gear grinding noise. TD5

Hi,

First thing in the morning and really if the engine has been off for 9 + hours. I have noticed that after I have started the D90 TD5, and put it in to reverse the car sounds like gears are grinding slightly. This will literally only happen for that point and then or seems fine..... Any suggestions as to what and why this happens?

Have you checked the gear oil level? You have the R380 right?

If first is the first gear you select does it crunch? What oil are you using?

DO you feel it vibrate through the clutch pedal? it does it as well if you're holding the vehicle on the clutch or pulling away?

In which case, it's a normal Td5 thing.... to do with the spigot bush in the end of the crank. When you've got the engine or gearbox out next time, just change it.

You may find it'll stop doing it after a while. Both mine did it from new, then eventually bedded in.

Others do it after many thousands of miles. but it usually stops.
