I agree. Try the 265 on 5.5" rims first.
I also have 285s on 7 inch rims no problem

I wasn't impressed with 2522's....
I keep them on a shelf now.

Wow looks great. Love that color

On an aside glad I didn't go white as the pure white of those wheels is very different from the white of my truck. It would look weird. Looks great on any other color truck though.

You really can squeeze tires on. I guess I have three sets of wheels now depending on the mood. Wish I could afford tires for them all.

Have you called Zack at RN? I thought ECR shipped them a bunch of 6.5's. But I agree with others here 5.5's will be fine with 265's. I've done it with no problem.

Good God man. Who put axles from an ancient Roman village archeological excavation in your truck?

LOL- these broke back in '04 and '05.
They were shiny back then!

So I am having second thoughts now that I have the black Wolf's at my house. I really like the way this truck looks with the white wheels that are on it (5.5") and would really like to use those (until I swap my axles to run the Boost. Finding reasonably priced clean 1 ton's in white is no easy task so that is out of the question for now.

My fears are that the 5.5's will damage the 265 tires or that they will pop off the bead (Maybe while deflating for the beach 20-25psi).

Thoughts? Apologies for my indecision. Truck is in Customs now, hoping to take it home in the very near future.

The photos of that 285 on the 6.5's is less of stretch as they are rated for minimum of 7.5" wheel. This would be a 5.5" wheel with a minimum 7" tire, or 1.5" undersized.

You should wait until you have the truck before buying poser tires.

For $150 and a afternoon you can pull an axle assembly off a junkyard d1 and swap in disk brakes.

Problem solved plus upgrade

Why not swap the 265's for 235/85's? It will still be a 32" tall tire.

I wanted the width for the beach and originally thought this would be a non issue with spacers and Boosts. Eventually ill swap axles. I don't really want to run a narrow tire. My current truck has 265

So why not plasti dip or powder coat the wheels? Dipping is about $30 and lasts about a year if not offroading

Bill might also be saying that it may be wise to wait before pulling the trigger on anything until you actually have the truck; wheels/tires may be the least of your concerns to start with. OTOH, it may run like a champ straight outta customs and you can drive/customize to your heart's content.

Either way, congrats; seems like you're close to getting the truck now - Tom Petty was right: the waiting is the hardest part.

Haha I get it.

I was on the fence about buying stuff before the truck came, but the way I looked at it was if I don't get some of this stuff now, I may never because I will certainly have some unexpected expenses with this thing coming one way or another that will start eating into my "fun" mods budget.

Ive waited nearly 2 months now since I have paid for it. Buying parts was what kept me sane. Theoretically just waiting on an email to tell me to come pick it up at this point.

The prior owner emailed me this morning asking me how much I like the truck

... and I just scored a deal on 5 rusty ANR1534 from RN. I have issues.

I got quotes to get my 5.5" widened and they wanted $225 a wheel and no guarantees it wouldn't mess up the paint from the heat of welding. I bet I can get these painted alpine white for < $600

Adam, if your were my brother, kid, or best friend I'd tell you the same thing. Have patience and save your energies for that 25 year old tractor. Odds are it will take time to work out the inherent kinks. Even if it has been gone through with a fine tooth comb, it won't stay in that condition. When these thing move they wear and if they don't move they degrade. Wheel color next year will probably be way down on the bottom of the list of to do's.
