It was pretty painless. I used google translate on my end and included english and spanish text in my emails. His office manager Teresa was very helpful and responded quickly to my emails.

The truck looked better in the pictures than in person, but such is life when buying a car online. Overall I'm happy with the truck, but part of that is ignorance. The more I learn about these trucks, and this one in particular, the more I find.

There was more rust than I was expecting. The undercarriage had black paint over rust, I'm still trying to get my head wrapped around what I have. There was some gremlins at first, I replaced all the fuses and that fixed a lot of the issues. The paint is pretty rough, worse than i was expecting.

All that being said, I bought a 24 year old Defender, online, from a guy who doesn't speak the same language as me in a different country for less than $10k... The truck runs. Most of the gadgets work, It passed German TUV with a pair of windshield wiper blades and an adjustment to the headlight level.

Yes it needs work. But unless I could have done an onsite visit, I could not have seen the issues it has. I had concerns based on the pictures, and that has proven to be warranted. I looked online for two years. I passed on other Defenders, who knows if one of the other ones would have been in better shape, in the end I finally nutted up and bought the one I did. Now I have to live with it and I get to enjoy the Land Rover ownership experience and all that that entails...

Robert

Thanks for the feedback.

I'm trying to see if one of my cousins can take a look at the truck.

After your message I checked out the website to see what he had to offer. Let me know how it turns out or if there is anything I can do to help.

Ha!

I passed on purchasing the Rapier 127 and gave the info on to a board member. (We're still looking for a house)

This one looks like it's a late 1990 production. I'm waiting to heard from the Heritage Motor Centre.

Jason has the sliders... we traded some stuff.

I was looking at this one too. Still doubting but let you first decide. Did you also get the pictures of the frame and so?
A little more rust then you normally see on cars from Spain. Still not a bad deal though, I think.
PM me if you neet these pictures.

Yes. It's full of mud in the back and tub supports.

The problem is see is the late build date. It's showing 12/1990

The price is right IMO

either way fix it now where i think parts prices might be a bit cheaper. at the rate these things are selling at you might make 3-4 times what you put into it.

Better ask Carmen for your nuts back before you start betting with them
