Replace radio/speakers on 94

So I was thinking of replacing the radio/speakers in my 94 just to get iphone connectivitiy and better sound quality (louder!)...I hesitate bringing it to any automotive audio place with concerns that they'll F things up, like ruin my door panels or screw up the electricals so turning my radio on will turn on my wipers or something?! Is this a job better suited for your favorite LR mechanic or am I being too overprotective?

Appreciate the feedback.

Find a well respected audio shop and give them very clear directions. You shouldn't need all new wiring or anything, just a new head unit with iPhone connectivity (primarily) and maybe an amp, some better speakers and speaker wires, and just make sure the speakers are near the same size so that they don't require much/any cutting.

Install Dynamat on the inside of your door skins. That makes for a nice improvement alone. Don't skip this step.
