Removing LH wing / Fender on '83 for bulkhead footwell repair...

To effect a decent repair on my footwell, I want to get the wing and heater out of the way so I can see what I'm dealing with.

Given that I'll want it all out of the way, and also given that I want to change the front shocks (meaning I have to remove the shock tower anyways) can I pull the whole fender assy (comprising of outer skin, top/front fender, and 'front wheel arch liner' as the manual calls it) all in one assembly - assuming the shock tower is removed first?

What about the wiring?

Love to hear the suggestions / thoughts!

yes removing the whole thing is the only way to go. Unplug the lights and feed the harness back and out of the way. There are around 10 fastners holding the wing on

So I've got:

Two fasteners at the bottom front going to the chassis (one on the wing, one on the arch liner)
Two or three vertically between the wing and front (grille) panel
One on the top of the wing at the bulkhead
Four at the back of the wing up the A-post

Any more?

What are the tips for easy removal of the ones in the A-pillar? I know to order some more of these as they will likelly all be scrap, but is the best way literally to just start winding away and hope the heads shear off the screws or are they pretty good? I know on series one Landrovers, these were a nightmare to remove.

The ones on the bulkhead are speed nuts and thread into clips-they come out easily, usually. There is also one that holds the bottom rear of the fender to the bulkhead outrigger. They are all usually easy to get to and if necessary can be cut off with a dremel tool or larger cutoff toy (part of every Rover owners toolbox).

Curious to see how this went. I am getting close to taking the LH wing off to get to the heater blower, oil cooler lines and belts/hoses.
