Remote reservoir Saginaw pump on 200 Tdi?

Has anyone tried to fit a remote reservoir style Saginaw power steering pump to the Tdi bracket? It would appear that it needs only a redrilling for the Saginaw hole pattern to work. I might give it a whirl if it has been done. Saginaw pumps cheep cheep. I even have a couple brand new ones kicking around somewhere.

Anyone ever do this? Or even a regular Saginaw pump with the built-in res?

I hate my 200tdi pump

The 200TDI PS pumps are poor quality and suffer from premature failure.
I installed a Mercedes PS pump from an OM617 and it works flawless and even has a replacable filter.
Been in use since 2012 and still works fine during a daily drive scenario minimum 1 hour M-F.

Be a pioneer and try to fab it up, Bill. The only real issue is pulley alignment. If it doesn't work nothing lost but a bit of time. You could just use the Mercedes pump with assistance from Robert Davis.

Ha! Well time heals all and certainly this issue! No more 200tdi now.
300 uses much better pump. Should run the winch no prob.

Some discussion here: D-90 FAQ - Winch: Hydraulic Winches

At the risk of getting banned here, there is an article on dweb about fitting a ZF74 Pump in place of stock, to power both the winch and after adding a pressure relief valve your PAS system. https://discoweb.org/hydraulicpump.htm
