reliability of MSD multi-spark ignition and coils

Ii bought a MSD 6A capacitive discharge ignition along with their coil, tach adapter for fuel injection and 8mm wires for my 1995 RRC with a soon to be installed 4.0 converted to distributor drive.
Rob a Southwest Rovers isn't crazy about non-stock items due to reliability issues.
I know that there were a number of conversions to MSD back in the early part of this decade and I wanted to find out how reliable they were and are you still using them.
Anyone.

Never had much luck with any aftermarket can coil. The high-vibration models seem to last longer, but in the end you'll still want to carry a spare.

Now, my Mallory distributor and "E-Coil" open frame coil are still rockin after a few years.

I went back to stock when I went through a couple of failures.

The high performance MSD models have been very reliable, I don't know about the street versions though. Some mfr's source out their entry/ lower level stuff and it's just not the same quality. I seem to remember that the MSD street multiple spark ignitions could be used with an oem EI and if it failed you could just disconnect it and run the oem unit. I don't know if that is still true or would apply to your install.
One trick with the MSD multiple spark ignitions is to make sure the distributor cap is vented. That may be a problem if your doing a lot of off roading.
Why did you decide against the oem electonic ignition?

the OEM ignition works great but I wamted more juice amd flexibility with the MSD 6A Multi-Spark CDI, Blaster coil and the Boost Timing Master to retard the timing as the supercharger boost increases.
I've also added two wideband Air/Fuel Ratio meters, a vacuum/boost gauge and two Knocklites. It is beginning to look like an airplane cockpit. I don't have time to look where I'm going since I have some many gaues to watch.
