Recommendations for Waterproof Speakers?

I am looking for speakers to put into either the Iron Goat or Rovers North door panels. I would like a mid range speaker that is both water proof and looks good with the door panels. The problem I am finding is that most waterproof speakers are white or silver and are really crazy looking with purple accents. I prefer something that looks more stock with a black grill.

Any suggestions? What are you using?

In my opinion, marine speakers are overkill in these doors unless you live on or near a beach. They're generally more expensive, you give up sound quality (likely unnoticeable), and any concern over water intrusion through the door panels can be mitigated through the use of baffles.
I've been told that ECR doesn't even use them.

I found quite a few waterproof black speakers with a quick google search.
I also found 500 threads on this forum using the search function using the keyword "speaker".

I have marine black speakers on my underdash AC. They were under $100 for the pair. got them on ebay. I want to say they are Pile, but I may be wrong. it's been a while.

Wake-boarding boats have some of the best systems on them, because of the demographic of those using them...younger people who like music.

Most large speaker companies like JL Audio, Polk, Alpine, etc. offer marine speakers, so just find the best rated one(s) within your budget, and make sure you use an amplifier. Personally I looked into them and they're pretty unnecessary for our application(s) - as long as you're not using paper cone speakers, you should be fine. And even if the speakers only come in white or purple, you can always buy black speaker covers...

While on the topic of speakers, anyone have suggestions on speakers that fit in the upper rear corners of a SW? I saw that murph's red 90 had 'em in a picture, but couldn't find out from him who made them. I am building a storage setup that will cover the existing SW speaker locations, so need to move them higher and out of the way. Thanks in advance!

JL audio marine speakers in combination with one of their awesome amps. Pointed rearwards, they will push the truck forward just from the jet blast.

Thanks for that - pm'ed tony to find out more info. As for the 'jet blast'... might have to look into that - with my truck, every little bit helps!

We have a Nautique with waterproof Polk speakers, and a Mastercraft with JL Audio thoughout. Between the two, the JL's are the better option. I'd definitely suggest looking into them if you're set on waterproof stuff. Although, as others have said, any premium speaker with a non-paper cone is going to be just fine as long as you aren't planning on taking the truck swimming.

I have polk dxi651 speakers. They are the new version of the now discontinued db series and you can get them for around the same price at best buy. They are awesome looking and sound great. Best value for money by far.

I just put in Polk DB651 - wasn't crazy about the silver grills, but nothing a little paint couldn't help... Very happy with the speakers.

Get what ever you want as long as they aren't paper cones. That's eh set I've been doing for about 7 years with no issues.

I just put in the Kenwood KFC-1694PS. They are 3 way water rated cones and not overly expensive at Crutchfield, $49. They sound great and at $49, they can fail every few years for all I care.
