Rearview Mirror Install Defender 90 ROW 1985

Does anyone have the secret sauce for inserting / clipping this rearview mirror into the 3 screw mounting plate. Purchased the following parts and having a heck of a time getting this metal tang to click into place:

- Interior mirror - dipping - standard/county vehicles (not heritage model)
- Mounting Mirror

See lots of complaints in the UK of this mirror insertion process. Any videos out there to end frustration for this noob and mechanically challenged member?

make sure the sprung side is moving freely (in and out spring), insert spring side into corner and push against as hard as necessary...

Dude I went with rear view camera for like $30 (granted I had the ram mounts left over). I just drilled some holes in the base of the monitor and used the bolts for the base plate of the mirror.

Thanks! Yeah I couldn't see out the back when I was packed so this has helped a lot.

Mybluett that was the trick. The spring was stuck in the paint (a new part from Paddock) and using the corner helped this tang fit/insert in the tight squeeze. Thanks
