rear Tuffy box problems?

I hate putting the top (other than the bikini) on my D-90. So, I am in the process of converting it to as water resistant as possible (stainless, marine audio equip, etc.). For those of you with rear Tuffy boxes, do you think they would take in water if caught in a decent rain? Any rust issues with these boxes?

Thanks for any input.

No idea on the water-tight status, but my Tuffy box between the seats stays dry in the Series.

There are a pair of storage boxes for sale on the Solihull site -

No interest in these, other than I can tell you that Mark (seller) is a nice guy.

I've the console box in my Series for a few years now, and while I have not submerged it, I've never had any rust issues. I just recently picked up the rear speaker + console boxes (wish I saw the ad on the others) and am very happy with them. If you are going to submerge, I would suggest applying something more geared for underwater type applucation and silicone the beads and corners.

I have had mine for seven years now and no rust. I have the top off all summer so it gets rained on. The way the lid forms over the edge would make it tought for water to get in (like a shoe box, the top encloses the upper edge). Where it bolts underneath I suppose water could get in there as the bolts pass through the body, but it has to be minmal.
