Rear Spare Wheel Carrier

The rear spare wheel carrier on the 90 Soft Top is rattling a LOT, like, unbearably.

I know the ultimate solution is to with something custom or one of those Mantec/chassis mounted ones, however, I am certain that this original one should not rattle like this.

Other than simply tighting every bolt on it, what is the best way to attend to this?

Thanks

Nadim

For $8 you can rebuild the hinge.

Hey Nadim, you could try to grease the fittings at the pivot points of the carrier, that helped when I did mine. Also check to see if your whole tailgate is loose, you can rebuild those hinges as well. Good Luck! Chris

The hinge rebuild kits are SO worth doing! My tailgate was rattling away, driving me crazy, and after the $8 fix, it's quiet as ever.

I highly reccomend it.

Do the hinge rebuild. I just did mine a few weeks back and couldn't be happier. I no longer have to lift up on the gate in order to shut it properly.

Great feedback guys - much appreciated...

So i'll be needing 2 x the 8$ fix-its? right?

I'll order these, grease the hinges, and see how that works...hopefully it'll be great...if not, I'm contemplating putting the spare flat in the rear with a mount for the Engel on top...ugly, I know, but I'd like to hear something other than rattling
