Rear seats for children (baby)

Okay, so the reason I put my D90 up for sale was so that I could then buy a 110 to be more family friendly (man cub due on 10 August). But trying to sell a Defender from Italy is a b!tc#. So if the truck doesn't sell, I want to make it as family friendly/safe as possible.

Does anybody have any good advice on rear (forward facing) seats for children/infants. We bought a nice BRITAX carseat (as they have great safety ratings). I looked at the exmoor trim fix and fold... also thought about getting a Corgeau bench seat: http://corbeau.com/products/bench_se...ch_baja_bench/ --but where would one mount the seat belts? Any ideas from you experts and fathers out there?

Thanks in advance for the help!

I put a set of lock and folds in my 90. I'm 80 percent happy with them. When both are down there is no room in between them. Luckily I have one boy in a booster seat and he can get in the seat and do up his own belt after I put the first one in the car seat and flip the second seat down. They also rattle a little when driving but no big deal. Seat belt female parts are on the seats. The belts and males mount to the defender. Do a search on this sight. There have been many write ups. I still think these seats are better than any of the other options I've seen.

Why not a factory bench or some of the other bench options people have used?

I don't know about the states but I know that the rear bench seats are not legal for car seats in Canada.

There were a few realllllly long threads dedicated to this with a ton of pictures. Probably search baby seat or something like that. You'll probably find a lot more pics and ideas for what you're trying to accomplish in that/those thread(s).

Some have mounted them forward, some rear-facing, etc. they showed where/how to mount the belts, etc.

An option to consider

http://www.littlepassengerseats.com/

I have not seen them in a defender but it looks easy if you don't mind installing a base plate. These have the option for built in seat belts. They have the ability to face forward or rear.

FWIW, I use a Britax car seat and a booster with the stock rear forward-facing bench seat.

And to add to this: I've been using the factory bench seat with "high back" car seats for the past 5-6 years on and off the road with my kids (6 year olds now).
I took them off road pretty much as soon as they could hold their heads (well.... "very mild" off road of course, think "forest road", "green" trails, etc).
The only adjustment I do is put a think plank at the middle of the seat because the factory seat is -just- wide enough to hold two cars seats but the sides are raised vs the center which make the seats want to collapse in the middle and create "tensions" when one kid get in the seat before the other one....

I recently sold a spare set of forward facing folding seats produced by exmoor. They were brand new and never installed and I recall they came with a safety certificate. Maybe Exmoor will share what testing was performed to get the certificate and who issued the certificate.

I assume the keys should be mounting, high-back head support and facing forward. Seems to be what the Exmoor seats try to address.

I just finished an install of the Exmoor L&F recently. I did just one seat (one kid) and I'm totally happy with it. Seems super safe. I've been meaning to post a write up about the install... one of these days. But here's a couple pics in-action FYI:

Ha! Yeah, he watched me install most of the seat (his special chair) so he's in love with the truck too. Chip off the old block. They see what we do and mimic I suppose!
