Rear Seatbelts

I have a 1997 D-90 ST with a rear bench seat. The seatbelts pay in and out similiar to the front seatbelts however they fail to "lock" when yanked. I take it this is not normal, correct? Do I need a new mechanism or can it be fixed with some mechanical adjustment. Thanks..

They should lock. I don't think they can be adjusted, but maybe they are seized. Can you removed the covers and inspect?

Nick, I am not sure if they are still available or not but I put seatbelts from a discovery in my 94. They are a bit shorter than the original so I had to make a strap/hanger to lower the shoulder mount point to stop them wanting to retract in the lock position every time they were used.

I put the Disco ones in my Defender also. Tried it first without the hanger, and they would reach but the problem is they get fully extended to reach and then lock up and very hard to get to release after (have to jiggle and mess with them a lot to get unlocked!).
