The NATO hitch is available at the local UHaul rental store for $40 or $50 last time I was in there.

Jeeeeeeze guys! 21 replies on a rear recovery point! Just put a hook or weld a loop and be done with it. Only rover owners could figure out a way to spend over $100 on this!

Made it further than half of the other guys, but the Hammers won.

I think I found what I'm looking for:

http://www.landroverstuff.com/specials.htm

I just want to check the rating on it, but I already have the Scoripion Racing front swivel mounts (Scorpion makes these), and I'm pretty happy with those. This just looks simple and to the point. Anyone ever seen or used these?

thank again for the input.

'could also replace the rear lashing points with JATE rings. 'only they do tend to be buried when you are really stuck.

As well as geting easily buried, I've also seen the JATE rings break trying to recover from really deep mud... I wouldn't trust just one for a hard recovery, and most that have them don't link the two with a bridle. (I used to use just one )

For the same money as 1 JATE, I think this recovery eye from scorpion is going to work just right.

thanks,
Dave

Me.

Had it for a while, and finally sold it away when I got
1)Dixon Bate ball/hitch combo
2)Dixon Bate NATO hitch
3)My own custom recovery point made.

I can use them all simply unbolting one and fitting the other.
The best is the old military NATO,it really kicks @ss.
Shame I don't dare to use it as I live in Italy (it means if I come across a policeman I can get a huge bill and have the log book retired and the 90 as well)

Scr@pIron recovery point is just a plate with a steel arc welded on.
I bet you can find a pal/fabricator able to do the same thing and even better,
and stand a bit outta the crowd...

Just a thought.

ANYWAY get a suitable backing plate as well not to bend the Xmember at the 1st pull!

Boy, and we complain about inspections, etc, here in the states... sounds like you've got to really be careful what you put on your truck.

I think for the price, it's just as easy to have landroverstuff.com ship the scorpion eye right to me, vs. trying to find a local fabricator make one up for me, since I don't know of anyone offhand. And, I've never seen one of these in the US, so I still might stand out! And I will definetly get a backing plate.

thanks for the input Michele, and good luck with police over there!

Angry

Dave,would'ya believe?
You are not allowed :
(unless you pay)
  • to add a bullbar
  • to change your stock bumper
  • to add a winch
  • to add a towing hitch/recovery point
  • to switch to different tire sizes
  • to switch to different rim size (ok,I don't care)
  • to fit auxiliary lights on
  • to fit roof lights on
  • to take your seats off!!!!!(need more room?forget it!)
  • to put seats in!!!!(need to carry passengers/friends?forget it!)
  • to swap your engine with a different one (V8>Tdi>V8>PowerTorque)

What else?
  • to fit a snorkel
  • to fit lampguards

Most of these things you can have
if you ask a permission (each time for a different thing!).
Once you got it,quick call a friend with a garage
(if you have) and ask for a "fake" installation certificate
(I did all the jobs but better not to say it!).
Then book a visit @ your local MoT office
and pay for having your goodies registered on your Rover logbook.

Naturally, you can only have 1 (one) different tire measure
(within a limited range),2 extra lights and no more, etc etc etc.

My NATO hitch is NOT allowed anyway, even if it's a genuine LR part.

Democracy.

Cosa dice?? Are you talking about the Swivel Recovery Eye that Dave mentioned in his post? I don't think so...
