Rear hubs and spindle axle on 94 NAS D90

Over the weekend i've been replacing wheel bearings on the front and rear hubs. when i pulled all 4 inner oil seals, i found only one to have a thin metal garter spring.
the shop manual references the garter springs, but wondering why i'm missing 3? All 4 inner oil seals were in excellent condition, as where the old bearings. Are these garter springs critical to have when I reassemble? I also don't see these garter springs in parts catalog for RN or AB. Nor are the garter springs referenced to be included if I were to buy new inner oil seals.
One more thing...i will check past posts, but need to find the torque settings for rear spindle axle bolts.

thanks!

Dont know how important it is to have exact torque specs for spindles. On the series you just tighten till you cant get rotation and slacken till you just can rotate then button up.

double seal # 3511 I think

Tighten the nut, slack it off, retighten. slack off...do this a few times then leave it slightly loose. Hub should be able to turn without drag.

This is definitely a feel-thing.

Thanks Nomar-
i agree with you on having to get it based on "feel." without all the fancy torque wrenches and 72 mm sockets, this was my only option, and was successful today with getting the rear hubs and bearings installed. Now, onto the fronts...
I decided to forgo using the outer oil seals, for a couple of reasons: numerous videos on youtube showed no outer oil seal being fit next to the outer wheel bearing, and when i tried the outer oil seals, the fit was really poor, and risked damaging the bearing trying to tap them into the hub.
i never did figure out the mystery of the lone garter spring...
