Rear end rotting out Defender 90

Hello my rear end is rotting out and I have some leakage.
-- Let the jokes begin--
But seriously it is a 1994 D90 3.9 5-speed and the rear end is looking pretty bad. I was wondering what my options were. Can I just find the housing and replace it? Who might have one for me? Will a rear end off an automatic discovery work or are the gears set different? What is my best route.
Thanks
Lou Severino

The rear diff cover on my 88 rusted through years ago. I made up some nice, thick epoxy goop and (after appropriate cleaning) spread it on the cover. It was a quick and cheap repair.

The make replacement caps for them, seems a common problem in the UK. You cut the old one off and weld a new one on. You could check some of the vendors here to see if they could get one for you.

Disco or RRC rear axle is a straight swap. All coil spring LR's have 3.54 ratio.

Thanks for all your help. Think I am going to try and replace the rear cap. I was able to find a few place that has them. I didn't even know this was an option. I appreciate all the help -- thanks John, Tony, and Mike

Might as well put on a pipe-cap while you're doing it. At least then there's a lot more metal to corrode.
