Rear bumper bolts

I pulled my rear bumper off last night so that I can strip and repaint my crossmember. Can I replace the bolts that hold it on with stainless or is this a bad idea? Is it easy to get these bolts?

I replaced them with stainless, and nothing has corroded after a few years. To be sure, all the stainless is touching a painted, galvanized, or powder coated surface. I just ordered them from McMaster, I think I might have used standard sizes since they were so large.

Exclamation

If you plan on towing anything, be aware that stainless has a lower tensile strength than steel...you may just want to replace the original rear bumper bolts with galvanized bolts of the same grade...

I buy all my fasteners from www.fastenal.com. There might be a Fastenal store near you...
