Reading the stock temp gauge?

What is the temperature range of the red area on the stock temperature gauge from a 94 D90 NAS?

I dont think it has an exact measurement. If you are in that area, bad news!

check your Tstat, coolant level and clutch fan

I'm planning on replacing it with a VDO vision model and wanted to know what is the equivalent temp of the red area on the vision gauges.
