Exclamation Read Me First!

OK guys, the board has been around a while and we are seeing some repeat questions, this is not a problem but sometimes your question can be answered by an old post rather then creating a new one. So what am I saying, try searching before posting a question. If you don't find what you are looking for then start a new thread. If you find a similar thread but your question is not completely answered then post in the thread that you found by searching, that way everyone knows you tried searching and it keeps everything together on the forum so when someone else searches they have less to go through. This will also make it easier on Chris when adding things to the FAQ.

One other function that everyone misses is the similar thread search. When you are making a new thread there is a button right next to the thread title it looks like a paper with a magnifying glass on it. If you click this it will do a search based on the title of your thread and open the search results in a new window. This can be useful when you forget to search and go right into making a new thread.

Iím not picking on anyone, this happens on every forum out there, most people are not familiar with all the functions of the forum, and when they sign up they are not concerned with the forum so much as the reason why they are posting a question, so they may not realize that their answer is already posted on the forum.

Thanks!

Mike

Thanks Mike! Just another additional note about the "Check for pre-existing similar topics" button. When you use it, it will not disrupt your current New Thread window but as Mike pointed out, will open a new smaller window with any results in it. What you may not be aware of is that when you go to look at the resulting thread (if any) it should again open the thread in another window, still preserving your original window. If the search result thread is one that relates to the issue, then you can simply post in that one and close out of the original window.

Talking

OK some clarification as some members have been thinking that the search function was down, but it has never been down.

When searching the forum use the search button circled in the picture. OR if you look in my sig line you can click on the search and it will bring you right to the advanced search.

Clear as mud now? If not hit me up in the Help with the site or forum section.
