I need the adapter that plugs into the defender side. That way I can hook the adapter wires up to an aftermarket radio.

Let me see if I can find it...

I wound up just leaving my stock plug unplugged because I ran new speaker wires, dedicated 10 gauge power leads, and shielded rca plugs to the amps. I ran a new ignition cable for powering on. So my stock plug just sits there (with electrical tape covering the top end)

He probably included Puerto Rico and Guam.

Rankar. Probably a good call. I may do that. How hard was it to wire the speakers? Any tight spots?

If you're upgrading and running amps or will someday, then yes, do it and run new wires. It's really easy in a defender. You can run them inside the cabin, or if you're detailed with this stuff like me, then run them close to the original wiring route along the chassis outside the cabin.

Just go to Walmart or wherever, pickup a couple of spools of 12 or 14 gauge speaker wire, cable ties, and flexible plastic split wiring loom protector to shield your speaker wires from dirt, oil, crap as you run it along the chassis, and bingo.

Or you could just go to eBay and buy any one of the 26 adaptor harnesses that are on there..!,
And yes.. I used to always think there were 50 states.. 48 contiguous plus Hawaii and Alaska but (supposedly) Puerto Rico and Guam have been added... I live in south Florida you would think they added Cuba and Haiti as well.... Either way, you get the joke.... Right..??..

Ok ok. Ugh. Still made me laugh though.

Got a link for a harness? Because all I get are Harnesses that specifically say it's for 2001 defenders and later

I went to look at my defender radio but it's already been swapped out.. But if I recall correctly the plugs on e back are the same as a disco one (and 2 if I recall).. I just typed in rover radio harness and came up with 26 results.. A lot of them have pics and you can see the plugs... The ones I have used just have a big black connector that the factory plugs plug into and then whatever radio you have wires into that.. If you are using a common radio like a pioneer etc you should be able to find the connector that is plug and play.. Send me a close up pic of the plug of the radio you are using and the factory defender plugs.. I'll see if I can find the harness for you... And then I'll even come and install it also..and turn it on....)

If you look at the plugs that go into the back of your radio you have 2 plugs..??..a pink and a grey??.. Looking the the plugs they are both rectangular but you will notice that the tab that secures them in is in 2 different places ..this is so doofuses (not directected at any one person in particular..) don't plug them into the wrong holes.. These plugs are common plugs used by land rover..and hence a common land rover adaptor suits.. If your stereo that you are about to use has rca inputs (I guess they would be outputs) for the speakers I even saw one for that..
