Radio Wires

I'm putting a new head unit in my Defender, and have all the wires identified except a solid yellow wire, and a red wire with a black horizontal stripe on it about every 2 inches or so. Any one got any ideas? Thanks

Follow-up Post:

Alright, the red and black is connected to the headlights, and the yellow one has a purple stripe that I didn't see before. I can't figure out what that one does, it was not hooked up to the previously working radio (which worked fine). In a previous post someone mentions that a yellow/purple wire in a 97 is switched power, but that does not appear to be the case hear (truck is a 95). Thanks for the help.

I am about to replace mine, is there a place where each wire is identified so don't have to guess and check? Or if someone had a link or had a key to them it would be great if someone could post it or where to go.

I've checked the FAQ, but didn't see the yellow/purple wire identified.

All right, here is what I wrote down when I put in a new head unit:

power (switched):___White
ground: ___________Black
Continous 12V ______Red

Rear Left ________Black/White
________________Black/Brown
Rear Right _______Peach/Black
________________Red/Black
Front Left _______Orange/Black
________________Yellow/Black
Front Right_______Blue/Black
________________Green/Black

I don't thnk I hooked up the purple. I can check tommorow. Maybe I should have. Oh well, the radio works fine except for the crappy stock speakers I still have. Is there an amp under the passenger's seat? Maybe it has something to do with that.

Just a guess, but alot of radio systems have a radio sourced switched power to activate a power antennae.

OK this one isn't covered anywhere from what I can tell, but will my factory clarion changer work with my new Kenwood receiver? The cable fits the Kenwood fine and I have a matching Kenwood changer but would rather keep the clarion since it fits perfectly in the console. Anyone know?

Also, when I rewire the harness for the new head unit should I solder all the connections and heat shrink them, or more aptly is there anything in addition to doing that I should do?

Okay, I am dropping the head unit in tomorrow or tuesday, can someone either confirm or deny whether a Kenwood will interface with the clarion changer since the plug fits both without issue?

i think the clarion changer is C-bus. its got I think a 16 pin plug?? check crutchfield. I ordered a changer from them but thank god i was able to bring my stocker back to life. the stock system is nice but does leave a little more to be desired..
