Radio help

So I recently purchased my Defender. The PO had a bunch of older satellite radio add ons that caused a short in my radio. I removed all taps to the harness which were supporting the satellite radio, taped over any cuts in the insulation and have not had a problem since.

My new problem is that the radio loses all channel presets which leads me to believe that it is not getting power to the memory when the car is off? The existing/stock radio harness is plugged into an adapter specific to the aftermarket radio. Is this normal for defenders? If not, what color wire on the stock radio harness should I splice a wire from the battery?

Any other ideas?

What you can look for is the constant hot feed for the radio. It may be a purple wire with a brown tracer. After you have found that you need to find what wire on your radio should be connected up to the constant hot feed. If you do not have the wiring diagram for the radio or description tabs on the wires you can get it off the web. Most of the Land Rovers constant hot wires will be purple with a tracer or brown with a tracer.

That was the ticket. PO's wiring harness adapter had the constant and keyed power mixed up. Weird. Thanks!
