Radiator delima....

Hi all,

So my mechanic buddy is telling me I need a new radiator. It's literally flaking apart. He replaced the water pump, fan clutch, thermostat, probably some other stuff that I can't remember. Now he saying we need a new radiator. I did some reseach on this forum and it looks like some people recommend re-coring. Is that something a local shop in CT would do, or do I need to ship it off somewhere?

New ones are $600+ ....OUCH. Too rich for my poor blood. Is there a rough price-range for re-coring? Say 1/2 that of a new radiator?

Any suggestions?

-Steve

I had my Discovery radiator re-cored about 4 or 5 years ago for, I think, about $250.
It being 5 years later and you in CT, I'd expect to pay a bit more. You should be able to find a good shop not too far away.

Any competent radiator shop can do it--should be in the $200-300 range. Did mine recently, I believe I paid about $250
