Sounds good Doug thanks. I actually read back through this thread after I wrote that and saw your comments. I've asked Ashcroft for the dimensions and weight of the crate. Will DHL allow me to pick it up and take it since I'm there for paperwork? Wondering if it will fit in back of the 110. I have floor boxes so my floor is 8" higher than normal.

Expect a SNAFU with the paperwork. DHL is just about the most useless collection of human incompetence on earth. They don't know the difference between an air bill, a waybill, and a bill of lading. They will probably have it at some warehouse miles away from the airport, and you'll have to bounce from the airport Customs office to the DHL office to the warehouse several times.
Go early in the day and expect it to take several hours. If it goes smoothly, bonus.

Mine was on a pallet. I left the pallet with dhl. You have to go to DHL- then customs -then back to DHL

Thanks for info. Thinking ahead on this swap out, do I need any grease or hylomar for this? I've never pulled the T-case or tranny on a Rover before, but I've seen some mention of hylomar somewhere, as well as grease on mainshaft. Not sure what type of grease and where all to use it. Throwout bearing?

I have fresh MTL on hand for the tranny. what else do I need?

Ashcroft notified me that tranny should arrive at Charlotte Douglas today, so disassembly has begun!

Went to US customs today with paperwork provided by DHL, wrote a check for $42 and left 20 min later for DHL. Wrote a check to DHL for $70 and left with my tranny! Painless! Now I'm going to drain fluids and pull propshafts as my goal for rest of day

I usually do the full clutch kit, pilot bearing, flywheel, pressure plate, clutch disc and throw out bearing, for the $300-$400 it is it is worth it considering you are already in there.

That wooden crate is a lot smaller that the pallet he shipped mine on. Guess thats why shipment with DHL was less.

cleaned up T-case today. put in new input shaft and front output seals (rear output done couple months ago). confirmed I have cross drill input shaft

mated R370 to t-case. The fact that I was able to lift the T-case and R380 (seperately) made assembly much easier. I won't even need my engine hoist. The transmission jack is enough.

Tomorrow I'm hoping to pull out old transmission so I can install new clutch kit and transfer the bell housing.

All done. Back on road again 2 weeks ago and new transmission is smooth as silk. Runs like a new truck.

Thanks everyone for all the great advice.

For what it's worth, Rob Dassler (RoadsideRob) at Southwest Rovers does very nice rebuilds of LT230s and R380s. His prices are not far off (if at all...) the Ashcroft prices and he usually has some freshly-rebuilt units ready to ship from his shop in Albuquerque. He's also a really good guy and easy to work with.

back in the crate in the garage, waiting for a possible attempt at a rebuild down the road. It was fully functioning, but just had a noisy layshaft bearing. A rebuild kit from ashcroft would have me a spare someday.

I did talk to Rob, and he didn't have any on hand. Plus, it was over $2k for a rebuild from him with core, plus shipping charges of the core and rebuild back and forth. So that made ashcroft with no core charge faster and cheaper. The one thing he has going though is the warranty stateside.
