quick exhaust manifold question

Hi all, doing the head gasket today on a 300tdi and trying to get the exhaust manifold off, but it will not budge. All bolts/nuts are off but I can't get the exhaust manifold to budge from the engine. I did not undo the bolts on the flange leading to the exhaust down pipe. Should I take a rubber mallet to the exhaust manifold or what should I do. I don't know how hard to hit it as it is cast and I have a tendency to hit things to hard then bad things happen. Any help?? pry bar??

thanks in advance

No clue, but good luck Andrew. Hopefully this is just PM and not the result of some catastrophe.

no catastrophe, yet... just being a pain in the ass. I just took the exhaust down pipe off and its still will not budge. probably never been off in the 100k miles its driven. I guess next best thing is to smack it with a big rubber mallet

Ren... After going back out there you are correct. before i started hitting it i checked again and felt that center bolt, came off easy after that.
