Unhappy Putting her in gear problems

[94 D90 manual r380 3.9L]

Afternoon wise people of D-90...

I'm having some problems going from neutral to 1st or 2nd gear...

It gets stuck.. and i have to try multiple times to get her in gear and it sounds horrible when it doesn't catch it.. grinding sound....hate it.

I remember someone had similar problems and the problem was in the clutch disk? Does that make any sense? And there was pictures posted of how they replaced the flywheel cause the teeth had all worn out.

Or in other words... where would you look if it's hard to put her in gear?

Thanks,

~Jim

Is it better if you pump the clutch a few times before trying?

Are you losing any clutch fliud from the master (ie is the level down)?

Open the clutch master cylinder reservoir cap and look inside is the normal method. The clutch master cylinder is near the brake master cylinder. On mine, it's very near the firewall and fender. You may want to download a service manual or two...

Try pumping the clutch pedal too. If there is a leak (low fluid) or pumping helps, it is likely the master or the slave. Replace both and the lines.

hi Jim, if it is not losing fluid try this before tearing into the tranny.. clamp the rubber flexy pipe to the clutch slave on the tranny and then press the clutch peddle and hold it for about a minute if it slowly goes down the seals in the clutch master are shot and passing fluid past the pressure seal

regards
