Putting a DiscoII 4.0 in a D90

So I've been shopping around for an 80's D90. LHD. Found s few here and there, but the staple is the 2.5NA in all of them. I have an opportunity to get a hold of a wrecked and already partially parted out 2000 Disco II with a 4.0 V8 and auto trans. Accident was a slow rollover in reverse in a field. Engine ran fine before accident. Blows smoke and ticks a bit now. Still runs and shifts fine now. I have not heard it personally yet. Can get it and tires (new 265/75r16s) for under $1000. What say ye? Is it a good and desirable option or a nightmare to be ran from. Thanks.

Better to convert to 200tdi on that vintage.

I don't know about the brakes, only their unreliability.
