Purists avert your eyes! I went and dun it

Just pulled the trigger on an Autoloc CK4000 central remote lock kit. Long awaited guilty pleasure that I'll be documenting the install on.

The CK4000 has a 5 wire actuator for drivers door, so when that door is manually locked or unlocked, they all follow suit. It also has extra wires for add ons like flashing the turn signals, and I can add (with additional purchase) a 5th actuator for the rear safari door, which I will do later after the base kit is installed.

Stay tuned.

I forgot to mention, one other benefit of adding the CK4000 kit is that if I'm pulling out of my driveway with the kids, if I see CBP agents running up to me in an attempt to oppress me, I can lock all the doors from the drivers seat before my turbo kicks in and make good my escape without getting car jacked, thus complicating The Man's master plan!

pfft!, I only need to know that my Mantec center console locks. I can count on one hand the amount of times I actually locked my Defender. That said, its probably because it's such a PITA to lock all the doors manually!

No, I get it Mark, there's a lot of gear you're carrying around and you need some easy-to-implement security.

Usually a Glock sticker on the back window is a sufficient enough deterrent, then I saw this article of brilliance....

Mark,

Your 110 will not qualify as a purist vehicle. It has been so customized for your needs that it has further disqualified you for coveted mugness.

I will take unpaid leave from work, and abandon my family for 60 days to temporarily reinstall the 3.9 as a token of effort to get that stupid mug.

I just got done installing a set to all 4 doors..with power windows also... I was against it first of all but now I'm gonna put em in my own truck soon... Even if just on the front doors.. And I wired the customers power windows so that they can be operated even without the ignition on... Way nicer..

You may be worth keeping around after all. I see a promotion to the back seat in your future.

Not well enough to use. RoverPC needs to get BT unF'd.

Very interested in seeing this work... Especially for the rear door... I have the fronts on my alarm but they could get the actuator to work for the rear...

I'll admit it. I'm a power locker. I did draw the line though at power windows - that just seemed wrong. As for the install - it was tight in my doors - I had to get some smaller actuators to fit in there (I bought a cheap no-name kit). Works flawlessly. I never got around to attacking the rear door - it's on my list.

Ha! you only have one door to open on a 2 door vehicle constantly!

Unlocking each door seperately gets old fast.

I don't blame you. I like the idea and may need to get a kit myself

I'm surprised you aren't doing the safari door. Overland equipt trucks like ours have so much stuff in them, that I get paranoid every night if I don't go out in the driveway and check every door to make sure I lock them. I usually don't lock my doors when I pull in the driveway, and If I'm doin some project, then a few get unlocked, and I forget which ones. Even more so in parking lots of retail stores. I know for a fact that there are a LOT of lookyloos in parking lots when I'm not there.

It'll be piece of mind when I can look out the window, hit the remote and see those signals blinking telling me all have been locked up.
